I wanted something far better than that, even shit completely dedicated to the squeaky-clean aspects of furryism. They’re telling me that I should stop making a big deal out of that, and that they don’t need it or it’d just be a huge detriment to the end-product’s quality.

People assure me that it’s okay for me to make a mature story involving furries. The BSODs just keep coming and pretty much nothing works. The only thing I can remotely do now is to just try and back up my Steam games. Failing that, it’s straight to checkup at my bro’s buddy’s place before the inevitable OS reinstall.

The thought stressed me out the first few times, but now it’s just getting tedious. I just wish this overpriced fragment of my hubris would have a fresh OS reinstall already. Even the thought of that makes me feel that that alone will go seven ways of Wrongville, because god only knows what kind of OS is going to be installed. Probably Windows ME, just to punch the hubris punishment even further.

And now, I seem to be on my way to setting my ass to rocket into some kind of Bachelor’s degree of Game Design in RMIT… And I’ll be going there with this junior little beast of a netbook instead of the gigantic penis compensation device that’s going through the aforementioned BSOD seizures. Yyyyyeah. Totally not the kind of cosmic punishment that’s tailored to school my ass about humility and discretion. There’s better ways to do that, Lord Superior Force Up Above.

Ballfucking christ. I just death glared another BSOD happening to my XPS 15 minutes after writing this. KERNEL_INPAGE_DATA_ERROR BSOD again. This time I got a good look at the error code, 0x0000007a. Results suggest it’s an HDD problem.

Worst case scenario is OH BOY TIME TO DESTROY THE HDD IN PLACE OF A NEW ONE. And probably spend hours reinstalling and re-downloading everything. Pain in the ass.

Right. I think it’s official: My 15” Dell XPS laptop is fucked. Somewhere, at some point, one of the programs or games I’ve installed has caused a big enough change in the system files that it’s BSODing 0x000000f4’s like a seizure inpatient. The last two of those BSODs happened both while I was scanning using Spybot and Malwarebytes.

To make matters worse, System Restore has absolutely zilch on the list of points I can revert back to. Not even memtest came up with any RAM errors, contrary to what the KERNEL_INPAGE_DATA_ERROR BSOD message told me.

So this can mean only one or two things: Take it to a Dell tech shop for repairs, or take it to a Dell tech shop for repairs, then sell it in a pawn shop, and forget that that symbol of vanity, arrogance and false hope of mine ever existed.

Laptop just fucking crashed again… It was while I was trying to uninstall a program, Chrome was still on. Just like how I was installing a game, Chrome was also on.

Maybe I’m getting paranoid, but Chrome seems to be making the laptop go full retard. In any case, I’m going to move my essential project files not already on Dropbox into this netbook I’m using. 5GB isn’t really that much in terms of volume. Well, okay, factor in all the other things and I’m looking at probably upwards to 100+GB.

As of writing this message, I’m moving some more stuff into the external, removing unused programs, copying an entire directory of mIRC into a netbook variant, and analyzing the laptop’s disk for defrag before trying out CCleaner out of suggestion of a chatmate in mIRC. Oh yeah, moving bookmarks too. Laptop better not fucking crash again now that I’m running minimal programs as much as possible.

EDIT: Mere minutes after typing that, CRASH again. This time Chrome wasn’t involved at all, but rather it froze while I was transferring to the external HD. So I guess I’m ruling out Chrome. Starting it on Safe Mode now.

Ever since I got the netbook, my main laptop’s been having a lot of untimely and very confusing BSOD problems… From INPAGE_KERNEL_DATA_ERROR to BAD_SYSTEM_CONFIG_FILE startup error, to BSODs that might have been caused by Chrome, to even crashes possibly caused by drivers I have no idea about.

In any case, this is divine punishment. Never allowed to own two of the same pieces of technology. The timing is far too inconvenient for it to be a coincidence. Already thoughts of past guilt-tripping by others are starting to haunt me.

Perhaps I shouldn’t have bought such an expensive machine for it to break down a mere year after purchase. It makes me wonder just how quickly a Fujitsu Lifebook T731 would break down… and that thing is $900 more expensive than the breakdown victim right now.

While I save up for a tablet laptop convertible, I’ll have to make do with this tiny little babby thing. :|

To be honest though, it’s a lean little beast. Shit resolution aside, it’s pretty agile and unsurprisingly can handle SAI like it’s nothing, no brush lag so far. 3DS Max seems to run pretty good too, but I’ve yet to see how well Bodypaint 3D will work. Have yet to install Blender. So far it’s looking like a fine little machine to do some low-res sub-1000 tri modelling (as it should be).

As for games, ADOM 2 has resolution problems, but otherwise runs fine. Hack, Slash, and Loot runs terrific, Binding of Isaac has unplayable lag, Dungeons of Dredmor is sadly also unplayable because of resolution issues, and Avadon is basically the first “big game” that I can play on this thing. It’s a surprise how much I’m enjoying the game on a netbook.

All in all, whatever disdain I have for netbooks has mostly subsided. Windows 7 Starter can still suck my balls in hell, but that can sometimes be forgiven with all the other feats it’s capable of.

So yeah, while I was behind the scenes and ranting incoherently about how I suck, I’ve been trying to find environments/engines/whatever the fuck it is people call this to use to work with in making my terrible games. Initially I thought I struck gold when I found Engine 001, which was a kind of GameMaker clone but 100 times more obscure.

I made some investments on it due to the “engine” having an iOS and Android porting capability that is still in the works at the time of this writing, because it didn’t help that the last time I tried the actual GameMaker product, resources and community help were few and far between.

Well… that might change. I was shown GameMaker in its very recent iterations, and it’s definitely made leaps and bounds, which I didn’t notice back then, since I was too busy paying attention to YoYoGames making a GM product for the PSP (which never happened, big fuckin’ shock and good going, me!). What’s really luring me back into GM was GameMaker:Studio, which apparently supports HTML5, iOS, and most importantly Android. Including Xperia Play controls. A phone that I own.

This better work well enough that I’ll be sticking to GameMaker:Studio for a long time. It’s always fucking tiring to jump from one engine/environment to another. It was George Broussard’s downfall, and it was mine in many aspects of my shitty life.

I got scolded by virt earlier today for saying “sound engine”. Who is virt? Virt is none other than Jeff Kauffman (sp?), the guy who made music for Contra 4 and possibly Shantae. He’s a very very highly respected chiptune guy. He scolded me big time, and really, I can’t argue with that, because he’s motherfucking Virt. I can’t possibly argue with him about what he knows best.

What I’m saying is fuck my illiteracy getting me into trouble with peers I can’t argue with.

What the fuck was I thinking even going into music making, or even game development, when I can’t be bothered forgetting how to draw to make way for remembering entire books about programming and music making and sound design and everything and possibly get an aneurysm from so much information crammed in and being kept in check in case it goes full-on dementia on my ass?

What was I thinking when I said that this time-wasting thing called game development came to dictate my dreams because I’m getting fed up with my own bitching about games practically being designed to frustrate me in constantly changing between different games to get different fixes? (this practically means that all this shit is just out of supposed impassioned faux-professional necessity so poke fun about that how you will)

What was I fucking thinking wasting all my fucking time fucking playing video games and drawing fucking shitty things for the first 23 years of my life whereas tons of kids from 2 generations ago have made games in their basements and build their careers into something monumental in their lives? Having 2 skills that is among the most useless for long-term investment anybody can imagine. I can’t speak on behalf of other people of my ilk, but what the fuck can I do with ultimately lifeless and utterly fucking terrible uncanny-valley-ridden drawings that I can only stare at indefinitely?

My encounter with Virt isn’t the first time I’ve been whacked by a superior peer. In fact it’s happened so many times that I’m convinced this is the bulk of the help I’ll get if I go to StackOverflow and ask anything related to game development.

I really want to get over a desktop’s disadvantages. You know, it having no chance of lasting 10 minutes when a power outage hits. That’s if I have a backup battery installed for the desktop. I know people might say, “well, if the battery runs out of jizz as well, then go outside or something”.

No, I just don’t want to. Not when mother nature is practically forcing me to.

I just can’t do it. I’m too obsessed with portability. I might just end up being a laptop person until I hit 60 or something. And even then laptops have their own problems which I don’t need to address. As such, I’m thinking of trying out a tablet convertible laptop, like the Fujitsu Lifebook T731. It’s fucking expensive as hell and I can just hear people say, “nuuuuu don’t waste your money on this (subjective) piece of shit!”. I’m very well aware of the hefty pricetag, FYI.

I just wish Android tablets had apps similar to Blender/3DS Max, and has a stylus thing that works like a wacom stylus, with the thin point instead of this fat as shit spherical point that’s utterly unsuitable for me to do pixel art. If both those things and more happen, I would’ve saved up for an Android tablet instead. But nope, I’m stuck with an overpriced tablet laptop that may or may not take screen protectors, as some T731s can’t detect digitizer input the minute someone sticks a thin piece of clear sticker plastic on the screen.
